Pan-and-scan fails on Radeon mobility card.. I’m using the latest version of BSPlayer with a laptop pc containing a ATI Radeon mobility card and tv-out. I’d also like to be able to use the pan-and-scan option to zoom in on cinemascope movies. Here’s what I’ve discovered… Using old rendering method… picture on tv and pc appears laggy in fast moving shots, but pan-and-scan on tv works ok. Overlay mode 1… picture looks great, but there is a large border on right of tv screen and pan-and scan does not work. Overlay mode 2… picture looks great, but again no pan-and scan on tv. RGB option… all give errors Is there a setting where I can get a good picture and pan-and scan on the tv working too? Might perhaps an earlier version of BSPlayer work for me? Thanks for your help. |

Theater Mode
FYI, in ATI Clone/Theater Mode, it's impossible to 'Pan&Scan' the movie with any media player I tested. (Theater Mode 'catches' the movie direct from the DirectShow Filters and not from the media player. well not exactly but something like this) Try another mode (TV-out as primary display) ... or find a DS Filter that resizes the movie and tell us |

The solution...
Thanks for your advice, its helped me find the solution :) I downloaded a copy of the ffdshow filter from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow (I would recommend the alpha version since it has many more features) The filter allows you to crop and resize the picture (plus many other options) and it works on a TV, with ATI Theatre Mode, and BSPlayer overlay mode 1. Enjoy :) |
