Perhaps by making it a "toggle" switch ?
(by the way: presently the result of mute, i.e. putting BSPlayers volume back to 0, isn't reflected on the control-panel; if that would be so, I think it would be less confusing and one would 'naturally' use the Up key to get sound back)
