If you use bsplayer 1 go to video->color controls->brigtness (only with movie loaded)
If you have an Nvidia card, go to desktop, rightclick, properties, settings, advanced, "your card (Geforce, tnt2...), overlay controls, adjust brightness. On Ati cards there must be something similar.
