HW accelerated .wmv files? Tablet: Pantech Element CPU: ARMv7 Neon Details of one of the .wmv files that won't use HW decoding. Problem is I need to use the very handy LAN feature as my files are on a network share. Also it plays all of my MKV and MP4 files without issue using HW decoding. |

Yep, I tried that as well. Nothing seems to force it to use HW decoding.

New build of BSPlayer will support HW acceleration for wmv files over LAN (in local mode it is already supported - system mode).

Bump... It's 9 months later now, and this problem still exists. HD WMV (on LAN) files fail to play in HW decode mode with latest version, they play slow and jerky in SW mode. I thought you promised to fix this... what's the holdup? These exact same files play perfectly smooth with both Dice Player MX Player Pro, ES Media Player, and even the System Player (GS3). But not in BSPlayer... /TRJB |

Did you try 'Use alternate HW decoding mode'? Can you send us a short sample of such wmv file?

Still *exactly* the same problem with v1.10, October 2013, another 5 months later. And, yes, tried alternate mode, it makes no difference. Specs on the type of file are in the OP's original post, there's nothing magic about these files, they are standard HD WMV files that MX Player, Dice Player, MoboPlayer have no problem playing with the HW decoder across the LAN. I like BS's interface the best of all these, but this is a serious show-stopper. /TRJB |

Do you have WMV enabled in Codecs to be played with HW decoding?

Will better hardware allow smooth WMV decoding with SW?
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Android 4.1.2 BSplayer (free) 1.16.169 WMV HD files decode via SW only I find BSplayer to be the best app by far for playing video over LAN but have been experiencing exactly the same issue as the other members in this thread. I was wondering whether (as there doesn't seem to be a fix) a faster tablet might be able to perform SW decoding on WMV files without the performance issues (slow frame rate, out of sync audio). I am willing to upgrade to either an Asus Memo Pad 7 or a Nexus 7 if it will solve this problem and allow me to use BSplayer flawlessly but don't want to waste money on new hardware if the issue will remain. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. A fix would be perfect! P.S. Does this problem exist on the paid version of BSplayer? |
