Default Cannot load subtitles from local network

I have Nexus 7 tables, and on it installed BSPlayer Free.

I use it to play video files that are served in my LAN using samba. Playback works just fine.

For some of the movies, BSPlayer can download subtitles from inernet, and it works, subtitles are displayed.
But whenever I tell it to load subtitles from samba share, it always ends with "Error loading subtitle."

I tried loading subtitles in various formats. I even fetched the subtitles BSPlayer downloaded from the internet (have url grabber on my router, so I had url, downloaded the subtitles, unpacked and renamed the file) - still result is the same.

What could be the problem? Should I install full BSPlayer, and it will make subtitles work, or if it should work in the free version too, how can I debug what is the problem?

Manual load of subtitles is not supported at the moment. What exactly do you do before you see "Error loading subtitle"?

ok, starting from home screen:

  1. click on "bsplayer free" icon
  2. click on a movie
  3. click on "menu" icon
  4. choose "subtitles" option
  5. choose "select active subtitle" option
  6. click on radio button next to name of subtitle file that is for this file (there is only one file there)
afterwards, after ~ 1-2 seconds, I get small popup with "error loading subtitle." message, and that's all.

For mkv's with embedded subtitles it will be sorted in next version.
For regular txt or srt subs, this should work. Can you send us this sub?

Sure. Attached is ZIP (I couldn't attach without compression, probably too big file) with the subtitles.
Attached Files
File Type: zip subtitle.zip (19.9 KB, 3 views)

We tested this, srt's can be selected and are correctly displayed.

Filenames of the subtitles should be in format videofilename.srt or videofilename-lng.srt.

Should it also work in the free version? I have free version, filenames match, and BSPlayer shows error when trying to select them.

There is no difference in versions regarding subtitles.

Tell us the folder structure and filenames of video and sub filenames and we will try to replicate it.

mkv's may have embedded subtitles in them, in these cases BSPlayer will not load external srt subtitles.

We will do this in future builds.
