Default Problem with file path / can't open file / no message

I was recently debugging a very strange codec problem, eventually found out it's actually not a codec problem but a file path problem.
Put your avi/mp4 file on your Windows system into a directory such as this:
Æon.Flux.2005.720p.BDRip.x264-Rx
Notice the AE character [probably unicode UTF-8] in the line above. BSplayer will not complain about the path but will not open the file either. 2 other players opened the file with no problem. I thought this is a AVC1 codec problem, NOT!!
The same happens when I put the Æ character directly into the filename.

I tried this on BSplayer 2.53.1033 but I bet this is the case in all bsplayers out there.

Nope, BSp 2.57.1051 doesn't work well either. Exactly the same problem. I just used the AE character from above in filename or in a directory where the file is located.
