AVI files: get sound but no visual (1.00-803) My BS install fails to play visual layer of avi files. Can't figure why. Codecs = updated/re-installed, avi files tested OK in wmp6.4 & Quicktime 6.4. Any ideas? I'm techy but relatively ignorant of vid-specific issues. Thanks. BS v1.00 b803

No BSplayer msg: sound layer plays properly while vid window is black with very narrow zigged lines (approx. 15cm spaced). This looked like a codec problem but no behavior change after changing to latest divx (was at 5.10, now at 5.11). Behavior is: - MPEGs play fine - *.avi files have above discribed behavior & have tried several files - *.wmv files load, give a blip of sound and starting image then freeze (silence + frozen image + no msg). I've only tested two *.wmv files. I'm back to WMP for all file types except MPEG. Because I cannot see similar difficulties reported here by others I suspect it's a local conflict rather than a BSplayer problem - but cannot figure where config/conflict is. It's a pretty clean system. Thanks for any ideas people may have. - Jonathan |

First conflict is between minimal system requirements (I'll say about 600 MHz CPU) and yours. Maybe is not divx but an xvid codec problem. Try to upgrade xvid codec. And somethimg more, what video card do you have ?

I have exactly same problem with 100.803 Audio is going Ok but video window do not apear after I load movie. I try to make ffdshow default directshow device for movie codec. ffdshow start imediatly after movie loaded but not the bsplayer video window. After push play audio start without video. Codec was DivX 5.05 and I try to decode with several directshow filters (DivX 5.05, 5.1 5.1.1 and ffdshow) Everything work fine with version 086.501. And one more thing. I have noticed that there is error opening ogm file BSPlayer v1.00.803, Unhandled exception at EIP: 0049C7B3 If you click 'Close' application will be terminated. Please report this info to the author with description what were you doing. Access violation at address 0049C7B3 in module 'bsplay.exe'. adicoto: Thanks for mentioning xvid codec - I'll check it. yeah, I knew processor was below BSPlayer's recomended but with the 384mb RAM I thought it might be OK .... maybe not. My display adapter is an onboard ATI Tech. 3D RAGE PRO AGP 2X. ipunis: I may try one of the older releases - seee if it makes a difference here. Best, Jonathan

Happened to come accross this post concerning use of BSPlayer version 0.86 with lower capacity PC. (You can download previous (and actual) versions here.)

Hmm, it does same for me (exept with some changes to addresses) with ogm files, but only when thers a subtitle file in same directory. Without Sub file .ogms play fine. |

I've found what's the problem !!!
Hello, I've found the problem with the audio and no video (zigged bars)! The problem appers after upgrading to DivX 5.11. After this upgrade, all AVI files (divx 3, 4 or 5) have this error in the video. The problem appears in BSPlayer 0.86 too! I've upgrade to BSPlayer 1.00 after having the error because I supposed it was something related by 0.86 and 5.11, but it doesn't! If I uninstall DivX 5.11 codec, then I can play AVI files in divx 3 format (because I have "DivX ;-) MPEG-4 Video Codec"). I can't play divx4/5 files. If I install again DivX 5.0.5 codec then I can play all AVI files without the lines. I'll investigate a little more because I've seen that the configuration pages for the 5.0.5 and 5.1.1 are different. For example, in 5.0.5 only "Smooth Playback" is enabled. But in 5.1.1 I've seen that "YUV Extended" and others options are enabled. Any idea? |

Same problem here... Sound, but no image, not even a video window appears! :( But I don't have DivX 5.11, only the 5.1 ... Could it be because I installed v1.00 on the same directory as v0.86? :? |
