Default Nothing happens when opening file

If I right click and select "Open" and then select video file from my hard disk and tell BS Player to open it, it does absolutely nothing.

My version is 1.00.803.

No error message, no crash, it just returns as if I wasn't even trying to open any files. I tried to open the same video file with "Open With" menu and tried to drag and drop it to BS Player window, but none of those worked. Then I tried to drag and drop it to another application and it did start to play it instantly, so it is not fault of the file itself.

If you load a video-file from the control panel, is the name of the file shown in the control panel?
(Or if you use Crystal-skin: is movie-size shown?)

(YAQ or Yet Another Question: are you running a wallpaper on your PC?)

What/where is control panel... I can see the file in playlist window, but only 1. and few characters from the beginning of the filename, nothing in other columns.

"(only) few characters from the beginning of the filename" puzzles me.
If you click on that file-name you should see additional info in the other "columns" (and if you double-click it should start playing).
What type of movie-file is it?

Nothing happens if I double click on the entry.
Only thing that happens when I single click is that it says it uses default settings for aspect ratio and pan&scan.

Doesn't it also say something about file-type just below that?

(YAQ: Did you install the player from an .exe or a .zip file?)

Nope, but I think it should be a mpeg file.

If it is mpeg-2 you probably need to download/install a codec(oder) first, e.g. Elecard's can be downloaded here.
There are some simple and free utilities for you to find out what kind of movie-file you're dealing with. Try e.g. Avicodec or GSpot. You find links to the downloadsites under item 2 of my Help to Help-post (click on link hereunder).

I think I have the decoder already as atleast one other player can play the file. I tried GSpot but it couldn't load the file either. E-mailed the author about the issue of course.
