Is box "Use Subtitle Mixer for subtitles in OGG files" checked under "Subtitles" of "Options"/"Preferences"? Further please see this post concerning possible conflict with ffdshow.

I should add that disabling subtitles causes BSP to crash whether or not the ogg movie has subtitles, and whether or not if there is a .srt file. Disabling subtitles does seem to work for avi movies. |

However, what you want is, that BSPlayer doesn't handle the (ogg-)subtitles itself, so you should check (select) "Use Subtitle Mixer for subtitles in OGG files", so - in my opinion - it isn't really illogical to have both options and they are relevant. (I agree this doesn't help your present problems )
