"Warning: DirectShow crashed while attempting to render this file.

This is usually due to damaged, misconfigured, conflicting, or poorly written codec drivers. It is possible, perhaps even likely, that other media players will crash when they attempt to play this file as well, as most of them will also use DirectShow. GSpot was able to intercept the crash, and has attempted to identify the codec or filter involved; uninstalling or reinstalling this codec or filter may solve the problem.

The codec was tentatively identified as:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernel32.dll"<------ this is what i got when i tried to render a video thru GSpot, Windoze Media Player, DivX, BSplayer all crash when i play certain avi/ogm files...however Nero Media Player worx fine but cant load subtitles  ..some i load subtitles other i dont...but the same thing happens...the movie crashes.

Any Suggestions!!!

Kernel32.dll is the core of Windows, not a codec !!!!
The codec probably tryied to acces DIrectShow via Kernel32.dll.

Do you know which version of DirectX you have? (Have a look at this post (click here)).
Did you meanwhile perhaps try once more to check with e.g. GSpot or another tool (see second item of my Help-to-Help post a link to which is at the bottom of all my messages) if you have the proper codec?
Maybe also check out this post (click here).

Maybe upgrading to XviD 1.01 or 1.02 (soon to be released) will be a good ideea.
