Crash on VobSub subtitle autoload

When opening a movie with a srt subtitle file (same name, srt extension), BSPlayer crashes with this message (EIP varies):

I have installed NimoCodec Pack on my Win2kpro machine, and ffdshow on top of that. After I I installed the newest version of VobSub, the problem persisted.

When I rename the srt subtitle file to a name different from the avi, it doesn't crash. Even if I manually load the subtitle file (<CTRL>+L) it works fine. Therefore I think it's not a VobSub problem, but a BSPlayer problem when autoloading subtitles. I haven't tried with other subs formats than srt.

Uninstall nimo. Vobsub not needed for .srt subtitles either. Ffdshow in principle replaces codecs, so you wouldn't need ffdshow if you install (individual!) codecs.
Problem probably caused by the fact that .srt subtitles can be played by:
BSPlayer itself AND by DVobsub (AND maybe also by ffdshow; don't know that for sure as I don't use ffdshow myself). How is your PC to know which one to use?
Too much eating makes you sick; this is also valid for your PC!

ffdshow does support srt and is able to make use of vobsub itself.

I wouldn't recommend codec packs and especially nimo , which is known to cause problems for a long time, at all.
If you install ffdshow, you really don't need any other codec installed for decoding!!
And as it is totally open source it's free.
The current version (a cvs snapshot), which is not an official binary release at sourceforge, also plays AVC/mp4 fine.

Though officially in alpha stage it runs stable (version 20050122).
Get it here. No use for codec packs anymore, it's really worth.

(This is no advertising, I mainly use it because it is ATM the only reliable Direct Show solution for decoding AVC streams WITH b-frames)

Hmmm .... :?: (both above quotes sound rather similar to me)
In other words: BSPlayer-users should EITHER opt for the "ffdshow-route" (which I often advise for older/slower systems, mostly in combination with BSPlayer 0.86 version) OR for the route of installing individual codecs.
Again, for playing .srt subtitles BSPlayer does not need DVobsub (nor ffdshow) as it can handle .srt-subtitles natively (which, however, does not mean that BSPlayer and Vobsub cannot be used together).
Perhaps bluedan could explain zxmon21 how to e.g. disable subtitle capability of ffdshow (which - as mentioned in my earlier post - I personally do not use) to avoid problems like double subtitles when the combination of BSPlayer and ffdshow (and perhaps also DVobsub) is used.
I think zxmon21 would really appreciate that, if he/she chooses to go for ffdshow.
