Default Strange Behaviour Playing Divx files

Hi there!

I'm facing an X-File with my player, well it should be more appropiate to say it's a DivX-File. Let tell you what happened so you can help me...

I've just reinstalled WindowsXP SP2 with all the patches. When I got to video software I started with the codecs. After installing them I tried some videos with Media Player. After checking they worked fine I proceed to BSPlayer, as is my favourite choice in playing multimedia stuff. When I checked if those same files worked fine, some of them did, but the ones who required the DivX codec crashed the PC.

Moreover, when I hit Ctrl+Alt+Supr a windows crashing sound plays and then i get the Message "Windows couldn't find the specified file 'FILENAME'. Make sure the path and name of the file are correctly written." (more or less, you know, it's not in english)

And while this appears on screen, THE FILE STARTS PLAYING IN BSPlayer!!!.

I'm stuck, and although Media Players works fine with those files I would like to see them on a higher quality player such as BSPlayer.

Any ideas on what to do??? Pretty please... ;D

THX in advance

BSPeter is on a distinguished road
Default

Which codecs/filters did you install? Hopefully no pack but only the ones really needed!
Also if you e.g. installed both DivX and XviD: did you deselect "Support generic Mpeg-4" resp. "Decode all supported FourCCs"?
Perhaps try an older DivX codec: 5.2.1.

[Maybe read items (3) & (4) of my Help2Help-post)]

When posting always mention your computer's OS and the version and build number(!) of BS.Player as used by you,
as well as - if applicable and especially when encountering problems - the type(s) of the file(s) mentioned in your post.

Default I got it solved

That's right! I finally found the f***ing application that messed the whole thing up. So remember kids

VISUALTASKTIPS + BSPLAYER = DIVX CRASHES YOUR PC

What the Heck has anything to do one with the other, I DON'T KNOW. But unload the thing and everything works smooth as silk. You can see what VisualTaskTips does at VisualTaskTips.com. Basically emulates a feature of Windows Vista in WindowsXP.

"Visual Task Tips is a lightweight shell enhancement utility. It provides thumbnail preview image for each task in the Windows Taskbar, as seen in the upcoming Microsoft Windows Vista"

THX again,
Obi
