Maybe update to 2.33.977 first.
Further "avi-format" is not very informative; in that connection perhaps also read item (3) of my Help2Help-post.

Is that an error mesage saying " Unable to create direct draw surface: ?Or something like this ? This is caused by the fact that both cards are using overlay surface. The only way to get rid of this is to force BSPlayer to usea another surface to draw tha image. So, in video preferences, rendering method, swich to VMR if possible.

SOme info about your video card should be helpfull. If the computer is fairy new, I would first update video drivers.
Second, I should change from internal to overlay mixer.

my video card is ATI mobility radeon 9700 and my laptop is old...

i changed the rendering method to OVERLAY MIXER but then "O" keyboard shortcut for pan-scan - auto didnt work..:(

when i choose " internal renderer DirectDraw surface" , avi video file stops after start in 3-4 seconds

when i choose "internal RGB overlay" , it says RGB is not supported when opening avi files

when i choose WMR options, video cannot be watched properly, it is interrupted, discontinious, clipping..

so what should i choose in order to watch both tv card software and bs player at the same time..
