On the other hand, if you have a TFT monitor, changing resolution other than native one won't do any good, in fact can only do worse.
If you still want to change resolutions and still have a CRT, in general options you can set "at start" and "in full screen" resolutions. | That's not exactly true. I have plasma TV and movies look much better if I match fps with refresh frequency (24Hz for 24fps movies, 50Hz for 25 or 50fps movies, 60Hz for 30fps movies). Unfortunately, I have to do this manually...
