Default Adjusting the brightness

The player is working great, but It seems alittle dark. I can't figure out how to adjust the brightness. I found under options a color control, but when pressed nothing happens. Can anyone help? Maybe I am missing something.

Color controls only works when decoder filter supports this (like divx 5 decoder or divx 3.11, ffdshow). Use HW Color controls, but Overlay or VMR-9 must be enabled.

Color controls from bsPlayer right click menu in previous builds worked for me only for original DivX decoder, never for ffdshow, I always had to invoke ffdshow configuration dialogue to adjust picture properties.

Just as a little notice on color controls:
for my ATi graphic board, color controls are a pain in the ***
They work only when the Overlay Mixer is used and the colors are set at very strange values afterwards. :( (Overlay Mixer is never used by BSPlayer though.... but ZoomPlayer can use it so I know what happens)
The VRM9 color controls never worked although I have DX9.0a, an ATi Radeon 9700 Pro and Catalyst drivers... so, I never expect it to work... :)

The divx codec support color control.
Xvid codec support color control.
Those two are the most used codecs for movies at this time. So, right-click on the movie window, properties, divx decoder filter, quality settings.
For xvid is the same, only it says xvid video decompresor, and it shows a slider for brightnes.

I think there's some missunderstanding. Talking about Color Controls and not HW Color Controls, Color Controls are accesible only when original DivX decoder used (and not available, when ffdshow used).

Original post is about color control.
Is the one above HW color controls on the menu.
I think that the man was talking about increasing brightnes on the movie.

Exactly. So you can adjust brightness using Color controls when watching ffdshow decoded movie? Only way I can do it is to open ffdshow configuration dialogue. Color controls from bsPlayer menu works for me only when movie is decoded by DivX decoder from DivX Networks.

From build 498 HW color control will work if Overlay mode is enabled (and if supported by card). There is no need for overlay mixer (but in overlay mode 2, overlay mixer is used). For VMR9 I'm not sure, Radeon 9700 should support color controls.

Next build will support also ffdshow color controls, now only postprocessing is supported.

Ok, I should give more info on this:
I'm using build 499 of BSPlayer.

The Brightness color control never worked for me as I like to check the YUV Extended mode in the configuration tab of the DivX codec, so I lose the possibility to adjust brightness in the codec directly. I would never use the brightness adjustements in the codec anyway, because I remember a few while ago when I tryed to use it it increasead CPU load. :( That's why I look for Overlay or VRM9 hardware change of brightness.

Overlay Mixer is not used not even in Overlay mode 2. (or it's not reported by BSPlayer in Properties). Overlay is used in Mode 1 because I can modify the values of color controls in my graphic driver control panel. I cannot change these values when in Mode 2 so I suppose the normal Overlay is not used then.

Hardware color controls don't work properly on ATi graphic cards and that was tested on lots of players. None of them worked. :(

bst, if you're really into this thing, I could write a more detailed post on what happens with color controls (with other players, as well)
It would be really useful to see in the Properties if the Overlay Mixer is used, btw.
