Default working video not playing in BSplayer

I have a set of videos encded with DivX 5.0/ogg vorbis that play fine in ther players (such as wmp) however in bsplayer they fail:

the video window loads, but as a black screen and does not actually play the video, it just halts at start.

I was wondering if anyone had had similar problems, I've tried re-installing al the relevant codecs and the latest version of bsplayer, none of this has had any effect.

thanks in advance for any help

Also installed ogg-codec?
Please also read the line below ogg-codec in adicoto's list of codecs.

the ogg codec listed thre is the exact same file as the one I have installed. Anyway without it I wouldn't expect the video to play correctly in wmp or for gspot to be able to render it ok.

as for the link below, to the vorbisacm file, I get a 403 Forbidden error, says I don't have permission. I've installed a different file calso called vorbisacm (possibly a different version) and that made no difference though.

confusingly the video works fine in bsplayer on my laptop, which should have been installed from the exact same set of codec installers :S.

I guess I'll just try going through removing all traces of codecs/players from this machine & start from scratch, something might have gotten corrupted somewhere.
