Default bsplayer and multiple users

Hi.
I have a complaint and a support issue.

Complaint:
1st I'd like to suggest to open "Support" forum in this Board, because beta-testers and payed customers should not treated the same way ( I wouldn't expect a customer to finish your "READ this before posting" article and doesn't get freaked out irritated. So, "Supprt" forum for simple lame users can replace support email, which I haven't found anywhere.
This is also really unprofessional. To sell a product and not to allow any support.

Note I am not very familiar with windows, so ... I get lost in its wood of bugs/features very fast. And this can also help to identify software/design flaws, for which you (maybe :) ) pay money for QA.

End of Complaint.

Support request:
I am your customer, I've purchased BSPlayerPro, now .
The exact build is: version 2.11, build: 940, 21 Aug, 2006.
I am using a windows XP Pro OS ( sp2, updated etc. ). On my machine, all the software is installed only by user "Administrator", but the user that I watch movies with is another one, a regular user.

After installing as Administrator, I have entered the details for "registration", as "Administrator",
and when I use the program as my regular user, I cannot register it.
a little dialog pops up to enter the credentials, but they don't get accepted,
MOST PROBABLY because the registration data is put inside one of the files in:
C:\Program Files\WebTeh\BSPlayerPro
which belongs and is writeable to Administrator.

Questions:
  • What is the correct installation procedure for multi-user environment ?
  • Is BSPlayerPro aware of user permissions and restrictions under post Win2k Windows Systems ? ( I mean does it create something in C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Webteh\BSPlayerPro )

Please assist, or refer me to a webpage with the solution,

Best Regards,
a User.

Support e-mail system will be probably changed since BSplayer authors had problems with the e-mail system.
Anyway the support e-mail is support@bsplayer.com

In BSplayer installation dir a key.reg file is created after the registration process, so if the user hasn't access to that folder he cannot register successfully the product (and neither install it ), so I suggest you to register BSplayer Pro while in Administrator mode.

In Application Data folder are stored the settings files, this way a normal user is able to change BSplayer settings once it's fully installed without furter problems

OK, I'll try.

This is what I have done. It is when trying to use the app as my "regular usage" user - only then I cannot see it is registered for me.
And it is not an acceptible way for me to run the computer as Administrator.

I think this is a design flaw: Application sold on per user basis MUST register itself in user's folders.
If they'd sell it per computer/seat, their solution would be acceptible.

OK... Let's see what they say over email.
I'll keep it posted in here...

Cheers.

At the start of my Help2Help-post (which please note I posted as a fellow-user as I've nothing to do with the development of BSPlayer!!), there is an index. So you needn't necessarily read the entire post (though in my opinion it would not really harm anyone). You could have easliy found in the index what you were looking for. I quote from that post:
Please DO take the trouble to read the topics covered in this post!
Index
of the topics covered below:

(1) .... (9) .....
and further under "MISCELLANEOUS":
(a) .... (e) ....
(f) Where to buy BSPlayer Pro? ; How to register it?; Support?
(g) ....

Then the relevant info shown under (f) almost at the bottom of my Help2Help-post reads:
(f) Where to buy BSPlayer Pro; How to register it?; Support?
To buy BSPlayer Pro go here.
After purchase you will receive an email from BSPlayer sales,

reading (i.a.): You can download BSplayer Pro at ..... followed by a link to your log-in page.
and on the next two lines in the email there will be your Username and Password to be able to log in at the download page.
After log in you will see a page with a welcome text at the top right and also:

Now just click on [Get BSplayer PRO] to download.
The e-mail from BSPlayer team will also contain
(1) Registered User name
(2) Registration code (a rather long alphanumeric string).
These are needed to activate BSPlayer Pro once downloaded and installed.
As it is easy to make typing errors with the code, I would suggest to use "Copy and Paste" method for that. (Open the e-mail, select the registration code and then rightclick > Copy. Further remember the "User name", which may be "case-sensitive", meaning that you must type in UPPER and lower-case characters as shown in the e-mail).
You can also register at a later time by starting BSPlayer Pro and rightclicking on its control panel (skin); then select "About" at the bottom of the list appearing and subsequently press [R] on your keyboard.
In the "Registration info"-window which appears, type in your "Registered User name", place mouse-pointer in the "Registration code"-box and then rightclick > Paste.
Click [OK]
In the "About" information under "Registered to" your "User name" should be shown now.
To purchasers of BSPlayer Pro (holding an officially obtained registration code), BSPlayer-team provides technical email support. These purchasers are invited to mail their technical questions regarding BSplayer Pro to support@bsplayer.com and they will receive direct support from BSPlayer-team. (Note this does NOT apply to users of the FREE version BSPlayer!)

BSPeter, I had a thought that this forum is some how affiliated by BSPlayer devel team, and used to put knowledge and FAQ kind of material.
If this forum is done by "fellow users", like myself - I have no complaint for that, Sorry.

Let's agree that a commercial product, especially software is expected to have any kind of responsiveness for support requests, or at least a decent help file.

Regards.

Yes, maybe an help file should be of help to some users, but BSplayer was born as a sole man work (BST alone developped BSplayer untill v1.01) and he had to choose to write an help file while developping the software or put all his efforts in improving it (and BSplayer grown really fast especially in the pre v1 stage and it was almost impossible to follow all of its changes).

Then some FAQs started appearing (the first useful FAQ was the one that now is available on the homepage FAQ section), then BSPeter wrote his really really really useful FAQ for v0.86 and once v1 came out improved and rewrote it (and he is still improving it) to follow BSplayer changes and (noob and not so noob) users needs.

Plus BSplayer team is composed of really few members (3 or 4 I think) and they have a lot of work to deal with in improving the player etc.

Yes, the support lacks a bit, but they also had lots of problems with spamming posts and e-mails (and this is the first reason why some support requests were not accomplished by e-mail), especially after the choice to add WhenU Save adware to the player installation process..

Here on the forum we (BSplayer users like you) are trying to help each other to solve configuration problems and other little tune-ups, and also try to figure out which bugs BSplayer still has to help developpers to fix them and improve this great player.

I hope that the support system will be rearranged soon since paying customers deserve (and have paid for) a full support
