Default Question regarding Xvid and Divx Codecs ...

Hi,
I wonder if there is a way to install both Divx and Divx codecs, and to be able to play Xvid movies with the Xvid codecs, and Divx movies with the Divx codecs.
Both codecs do not play well each other movies, and I want to set one time for each codec to play his movies.
I try ffdshow, but with some movies it crashes or unable to play the movie well.
I need this solution not only for BSplayer, but in general.

Hope i didn't confuse everyone,
Sagiv

Did you mean "install both Divx and Xvid codecs"?
Yes, it's possible, you can install both of them, and if you DON'T select the option to play generic MPEG-4 encoded videos, then DivX codec will only decode DivX videos and XviD will decode XviD ones..

Which error did ffdshow gave you? :?
With which kind of videos?

Thanks for the quick reply.
I get crashes and errors using ffdshow to encode some of my old movies that are in DIV3 format, and some of my Xvid movies and also Divx movies.
I can't tell why only in those movies, but it still does...

If anybody still reading this post, i have another problem.
I have divx movies that the gspot tell they are in XVID/DX50 format.
Divx codec is automatically used, and then i see green lines across the pictue.
When i use xvid (after uninstalling divx) , it's fine.
Now, can i make somehow the DX50 files to be open with the Xvid codec (while divx is installed) ???

Thanks,
Sagiv
