Default BSPlayer crashes when playing corrupt/damaged videos

I have some really old vids (I believe that are divx encoded AVI's) that seem to be partially damaged or corrupt. Whenever I play them in BS Player, once it reaches the corrupt segment the program will simply crash.

I can play the video's in VLC just fine, and it plays through the corruption without crashing... but VLC isn't very use friendly.

Is there a setting I am unaware of to prevent this? Or is it simply a limitation of the program.

Version of BS.Player?
Type of video?
It may also have something to do with filter/decoder used by BS.Player for playback.
With movie loaded: which filter/codec is that?

I believe they are divx version 3 encoded...

I have the 5.2.0.1258 version of divx installed from the ACE Mega Codecs pack it would seem.

Is there any options I can change to stop this problem? Or just change to a different version of the codec?

Or to install DivFix.
In general options, is "open locked media" enabled ?

DivFix is also efficent on non-divx "avi" files which re-builds index and recovers slightly.

Open locked media is enabled, always has been. And the videos open fine and play fine up until the point where there is corruption, then BSPlayer crashes.

VLC does through them fine, except with loads of graphical distortion, then returns to the video once its past the corruption.

I tried DivFix, its claiming the files aren't AVI files so thats not working.

Not sure what else to try...

Maybe a different decoder such as ffdshow wouldn't crash?
