Problem with videos playing too fast.

Hi, I believe I saw one other topic on this subject, but the poster never provided feedback to get an answer. For the past two weeks, BSPlayer has been behaving strangely when I try to play higher-quality .mp4 videos. I was using BS.Player v2.31 when it first showed up, then upgraded to v2.33 and still had the same problem.

The video will play as if on fast forward while the audio lags behind at normal speed.

I tried two different formats of the same video, one a "D-CTC 1280x720 x264 AAC" .mp4 video and the other a "1024x576 DivX6.85 23.98fps" .avi video, both from the same provider. The .avi played normally, while the .mp4 played the video way too fast. I tried a second "D-CTC 1280x720 x264" .mp4 video from a different provider, but it had the same problem.

At first, I thought it may have just been .mp4 videos in general doing this, but last night it played a smaller .mp4 video perfectly fine and it still plays older videos of the same type (as the ones giving problems) normally. The videos giving problems also play fine on other players, as well.

I'm not really a whiz on all of the different codecs and such, but I'll try to provide any information I can to try and fix this. Thanks in advance for any help!

Usually, this problem it's caused by an improper audio decoding. Can you play such a file and post here which codec it's used ?

With gspot, the original "(D-CTC 1280x720 x264 AAC)" .mp4 file is listed as:

audio codec: mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC
video codec: avc1

All the working and non-working files seem to have the same codecs as well.

Open the file and when playing -> rightclick -> options ->filters

"CoreAAC Audio Decoder" is what's listed, if that's what you're looking for.

Yes, that's what I am looking for. Shouldn't have any problems. And the splitter used it's Haali ? Can you provide a link to such a file (if not too big) ?

mitogawa 8th December 2008 10:56 PM

Yeah, it's using Haali.

The file I've been trying can be found here. I've only found it in torrents, but if you need me to upload it somewhere, I can try to find a place to put it up.

Incoming.

Should be able to test the file in a short while

The file plays OK in here, using Gabest MP4 splitter, CoreAVC and CoreAAC decoders. Should install Haali later to test it.
As the second bug, I can't reproduce it for now. Tested by opening some 20-25 files.

PS: Windows Vista or XP ? Have you tested Overlay mixer as rendering method ? (if under XP)

I'm using windows vista, but downloading CoreAVC seems to have done the trick. All the non-working files are playing at normal speed now.
