Stops randomly (MKV movie 1080p)

Alright, there's a prolbem when i run my file (14.5gb) i play it like after 1 hour it stuck what i can hear is the audio keep on going, and video stuck on one picture, i think the problem is in rendering mode which is set to "EVR (Enhanced video render)" bleh.. to be honest i dont know what that means.. and what might happend if i change it  any help, btw sorry for my english

adicoto 26th April 2009 06:42 PM

So you are runing windows vista or windows seven. If you really want to have Aero enabled when BSPlayer runs a movie, then EVR it's your answer. If not, I personally preffer to use Internal renderer (default).

Im running Vista, sorry for the stupid question but what rendering mode changes in the movie?

adicoto 26th April 2009 07:56 PM

It does not changes nothing in the movie. Internal renderer uses the engine designed by BSPlayer's creators to display the image, while EVR uses microsft's engine (Enhanced Video Renderer). I never saw glitches using first one, but saw problems when using the second one.
I am sorry that I can't test this behaviour, because I don't have long 1080ps (storage is low so I prefer to have 4x720p for the space of 1x1080p)

LE: this thing happens with 1 file or with all 1080p files you have ?

hmm well this the first time i run 1080p movie.. this is the only one i have... but i think the reason it happens is that my pc is not strong enough or not enough virtual memory .... i dont know=\

For a x264 compressed file if you use CoreAVC as video decoder, a Dual CPU around 2,2 GHz and about 1 GB of memory should be enough to play the file with no problems.

yeah i have 2.2ghz 2gb of memory hmm, i dont that CoreAVC video decoder what is that? it will solve me problem if i download it?
edit : how can i know if my x264 file is a compressed file or not

adicoto 26th April 2009 10:49 PM

Usually, MKV 1080p files are x264 compressed. It can also be WMV, DivX or Xvid (in this order of probability).
To know ehich of them we talk about, open the file, rightclick -> options -> filters and post here filters used to decode the file.
If as video decoder appears ffdshow, then click on it and it will open a window in which it's specified what kind of decompresion it's used.

mr_spidey 27th April 2009 02:08 PM

those are the filters: ffdshow is there..

i clicked it and..

i have to change somthing?
edit; i installed coreavc, now how do i know if bsplayer actually using it:o

adicoto 27th April 2009 05:35 PM

Go to the same filters window and see if CoreAVC is there. But probably you have to disable ffdshow's support for x264. To do that go to ffdshow video decoder configuration (in start -> all programs->ffdshow) and on x264 select "disable"

Tizio 27th April 2009 06:01 PM

In order to know if BSplayer is using it, simply follow the steps adicoto told you in his last post and if you'll see CoreAVC in the list instead of ffdshow, it will mean that BSplayer is using it.

Regarding the ffdshow image you posted, you have to click on the Info & CPU menu item to be able to read the FOURCC etc. data, the one you posted is simply the list of codecs ffdshow will use to decode the different video coded streams

adicoto 27th April 2009 08:45 PM

When you go to ffdshow window from inside the player, the filter used to decode the stream it's highlighted. In this case it's H264/AVC.

Tizio 28th April 2009 06:45 AM

But it always highlights me the H264/AVC, just because it's the first of the list... in fact when I go to the Info & CPU section the information on the filter used is different :confuse:

adicoto 28th April 2009 07:50 AM

Yes, it seems that on ffdshow configuration window, last codec modified remains highlighted. My mistake then.
So, while file is playing, go to filters -> ffdshow video decoder, info & CPU and there you will find the filter used to decode the stream.

mr_spidey 28th April 2009 11:42 AM

it works.! no more stoppings movie goes smoothly since i installed coreavc\ thanksssssssssssss:biggrin:

oooo and one last question.. what is Aero ?

adicoto 28th April 2009 04:31 PM

:)) Nice question :))

Aero is that nice glassy looking interface of Vista. The one that allows you to flip between the opened windows using Win + Tab keys for example. Or set the windows to have transparency.
