Versions and status, please (Dolby dispute)

Could we get a post on which versions have had Dolby support removed, please? Entering this info in specific in the What's New section of the Play store would be be great as well, but it should certainly be spelled out here.

Also, please give us details on how the current situation affects us. Will files using Dolby be silent? Stereo only? Please, spell it out.

I'm happy to ride through this rough patch with BSPlayer. Your app is just that good, but you need to communicate better.

I agree with the OP: you have a fantastic application, I really appreciate the compatibility with Android 4.3 that was fixed in a few days, but the problem with Dolby is extremely annoying and customers need to be informed about the status of the claim made by Dolby. The majority of the videos we like to watch use Dolby technology, so right know we have a useless player. If you need money to pay for the licensing, I would gladly pay 1-2 dollars more just for the dolby support.
But if this is going to take months, please tell us, I am certain the community will find a fix. I don't want to make the switch to another player, as BSPlayer was perfect and an instant buy for me, but this lack of communication from BSPlayer is not something very professional.

1.9.151 still had Dolby?

From what I can gather on my own:
1.9.153 and 1.9.152 both had Dolby functionality removed.
1.9.151 was the prior version that had no mention of Dolby in its "What's New?" section (if the site below was correct (I won't link to it as I can't vouch for it)):

Quote:

What’s in BSPlayer 1.9.151:
- added SMB host scan
- support for Samsung multi-window
- audio stream is now remembered when going to sleep
- if pop up video is active device is kept awake
- added support for Opus audio codec
- sleep timer now also works in background playback
- in some cases playback was not paused during incoming call, fixed
- fixed sorting in LAN mode
- some other bug fixes and changes

This was perhaps updated in May 28, 2013.

I cannot confirm this at the moment, though, nor do I know of any guaranteed secure way of getting this former version. A popular app that people are looking to sideload is an ideal candidate for malware, so the trust issue is crucial here.

Can someone from BSPlayer confirm what is written here? And can we download prior versions direct from the official site?

+1

It'd be great we could get some insights as to what is happening at the moment in regards to the Dolby situation.

We are in the process of licensing use of ac3 codec with Dolby. How long this will take, we can't speculate, as it is not only up to us.

1.9.152 is the first build with removed Dolby decoding. We cannot distribute older versions. Sorry for inconveniences.

As soon as we will have more info, we will let you know.
