Playback Rate 96% (95,9%) feature!

Please consider adding this preset to the playback rate selection.

It's an extremely useful feature in WinDVD where it's called PAL Truspeed. It makes 25fps PAL DVD material sound like it's supposed to.

Now if only we could have it for .avi files in bsplayer that would be great.

The present +/- 10% option is too coarse!

Just a little clarification why this feature is so useful:

PAL 25fps is the dominant video standard in Europe. When movies are transferred from 24fps film to 25fps PAL DVDs, they play 4% too fast.

This results in noticable variation of the audio quality (unless properly pitch corrected). A correction of the 4% speed error would adjust the audio pitch to maintain natural sounding audio.

I as well feel this would be an extremely useful feature. For files that are in 25fps, being able to change this without a complex edit of the .avi would save a lot of time.

To be overly exact about it ;) , the ideal % playback speed would be 95.904% of a 25fps speed (based on the exact numbers of PAL 25.000 fps vs. Film 23.976 fps)

Perhaps this would best be implemented as a "set playback rate" as specific a rate as the user wanted. (& also having the 95.904% as a preset would be good as well :) )

This will make video playback jerky, willn't? We wouldn't need some kind of interpolation between frames? And V-Sync....

I'm unsure how WinDVD implemented this, but it does work rather well. I've noticed no sync issues or videostutter beyond what u get with any CRT display not being timed exactly to the playback rate.

The single most important thing though, is that it does correct the smurf pitched voices and music on PAL movies ;)
