Make screenshots in PNG format! (A feature request)

Hi,

BS.Player should also have the option to make screenshots in PNG format.
Right now it only allows you to make a screenshot in JPG or BMP format and these two formats are pretty much outdated and unused in comparison to PNG.

Cheers.

PNG format is excelent for logo, line art and text. When it comes to pictures, JPG rules.

I doubt it, since a lot of sites including forums have this debat going on for many years, and the outcome is that PNG always has the lead/preference in the overall quality, including for HQ/HD pictures/photos.

For example:
Quote:

Perhaps one of the most obvious examples of PNG vs JPG is when you see text on a photograph. Notice the clarity of the text on the PNG and the blur on the JPG text, as well as the pixelation of the sky in the images below.

I believe that sums it up quite nicely, doesn't it?

And having a PNG option available in BS Player wouldn't hurt anyway.
It only will come in handy, so I hope this will feature will be added in the next version.

Cheers.

If you compare a 26 KB jpeg with a 320 KB png, yes, you are right.

never ever got a popup for rating subtitles... and this is even when I have to watch through 10 minutes of ending credits because I like to see if there's a hidden teaser at the end.

If you really need a fast & lightweight PNG screenshot on anything,
just use Lightscreen:
Version 2.0: Homepage - Lightscreen

and Portable version 1.0.1: Download Lightscreen Portable 1.0
