Codec display Hi, Is it possible to think about the possibility of displaying (in the way the movie size is displayed) the Codec (FourCC code) that is marked in the file, as well as the audio codec needed ?? The idea is to have every revelant information about the file directly on the main GUI/skin. This would be great to know what "kind" of video we are currently seeing (as well as the resolution that is currently displayed) !! Thx |
IMHO: Display somewhere - yes Display on the main GUI - no Codecs informations, bitrates, original picture sizes are technical issues. While it's very useful for debugging BSplayer and solving playing problems, for normal users it is unnecessary. It would only trash the display. The idea that BSplayer somewhere could provide such info is good. Hmmm... maybe do some GSpot plugin? :D |
Alt+3 But if you don't have the codecs installed, you can't see the codecs used to encode the file, don't you ? |

Of course you can. It's just matter of reading the file. The fourCC code is written there. When you know fourCC you know what codec is movie encoded with. |
Yes, you can do that, if you have a database file. |
