black screen when locking computer

A lot of times I'll get up and lock my computer, but I still have a movie open in the background, paused. When I come back, the screen always stays black. Is there some way to work around this?

it hapened to me too... but I'm using a standard Voodoo 4 4500 AGP video card, old card, with not so compatible/finished drivers... I think that this is a video driver issue... what video card do you have? and which drivers are you using?

Same stuff. Video is gforce 440 mx (but I don't remember exactly). Drivers are rather fresh

Hi
With the newest XVID codec, I can lock the computer after pausing a XVID movie.
In other formats the screen always stays black too.
