Transparent video

Could it be possible to make transparent allways on top overlay video?

If you are watching something and browsing web at the same time, or doing something else at the same time, it would be very useful if you could see through the video. When using allways on top overlay you can click through it, but you can't see through it.

I tried to apply transparency using nVidia drivers. BSplayer is transparent until you play video. You can set transparency for Taskbar, but when you run video, even that transparency is gone.

So, is transparent video even possible?

I don't think it's possible (for the moment) to make the video window to become transparent.. But it's a good request for next versions. I hope this feature can be introduced in BSplayer

Pyerro, d'you mean *transparent* or, like, 'translucent'?

You got me now mihhkel :)

"transparent" and "translucent" mean in my english the same. I used transparent not as 'clear to see, obvious', but as 'see through', so you could see the desktop for example, so maybe translucent would be better to use.

I attached two pictures to clarify.

I know this is an old thread, but I joined this board just to ask for this very feature so I'll just add it to this thread.

ATI Fileplayer has this feature and it's the ONLY thing I like about that player. It's a horrible player because the interface is buggy and it's generally coded badly. But that feature all by itself causes me to use it alot because i can fullscreen a video window while websurfing.

It's very important that the window not only have adjustable transparency... and this should be something that could be set to a hotkey or tray icon... but it must ALSO have clickthrough ability. That is the video window must be on top, slightly transparent, and yet not prevent you from clicking or typing on things below.

I believe ATI's code for this program is open source so you could probably figure out how it works if you don't know already. It's an inspired feature. All players should have this so I could drop fileplayer on it's head... horrible horrible player... with one REALLY great feature.

I think this part (without the transparency) may already have been realized by the "Always on top overlay mode"-feature?

It would be a really great feature!!

With external programs you can change the transparency of the controls window, but when you try to change the transparency of the Movie window the movie goes black (due to the code used by BSplayer)

transparent video player

I'm looking for a video player that allows the user to set the video window's transparency. The only one I could find is:

Anyone know of another?

Tizio 12th September 2008 12:57 PM

BSplayer can, but you have to use EVR rendering mode (only supported by Windows Vista)
