how to transform mkv files in avi or mpg?

Someone can give me a program (for winXP) to transform mkv files in avi or mpg?

Transforming to MPEG would require re-encode, as MPEG can only store AC3, MPEG Layer-2, PCM, MPEG1 and MPEG2 formats.

Remuxing to AVI in many cases can be acomplished using VirtualDubMod.
