Audio desynchronization compensation

Any thoughts to an option which would delay the audio output? This would help with videos that are slightly but annoyingly out of sync. Ideally, though not necessarily, it would be adjustable on-the-fly (e.g. with a certain key combination) since having to go into a dialog box and guesstimate the exact number of milliseconds is difficult (the way VLC does it).
