bsplayer and audio streams
 

Hi, I was just wandering how to name my audio streams instead of having them called Neosound92CF0 and Neosound92CF1

these names are given by neodivx and are written directly in the avi.

you could try and change these directly in the avi file:
I have still not found an app' that would do it easily (tried with mmaviinf found on morgan-multimedia.com but it doesn't seem to work on this parameter). If you feel like tweaking a bit, you can open the avi file in a hex editor and change the names here.

another (and simpler) way to change the names displayed by bsplayer is to use a bsi file like this:

The audioName infos given in the bsi file will supercede those given in the avi file.

mmaviinf _does_ work to rename audio streams. Try again.

well it doesn't work as I would expect it

detailed:

on an AVI file in which no names are given by default (no strn in the header of the audio stream)
when I try to apply new settings, I get a bunch of messages like
but also

bsplayer won't display audio stream names (still Stream1 and Stream2, which are defaults when no audio stream name is specified in the AVI)

on the other hand, next time I open the avi in mmaviinf it shows the names I had given :?

I have not yet checked if and where it has put the names in the AVI file
I have not tried either on an AVI file which already contains audio stream names

2 years ago, I've found on BSPlayer website NandubBS.exe, a Nandub version hacked by BST himself (I guess). It has the ability to name both audio streams.
It works but unfortunatelly the feature is of limited interest. You can't use it in a script (or batch), and you have to remux all the AVI only for editing 2 fields of the header.
Once ZIPped, the file is 500kB long. I don't know if it's worth to post it in an attachement. It's not available anymore on new BSPlayer website and I couldn't find it with Google.

I'm wondering, why the naming of audio streams works fine if I add the JUNKs with mmaviinf and let the morgan stream switcher do it's job.
(I load the movie into mplayer2 and when I look under language, there ist the Audio name string).
Maybe the problem is, that mmaviinf appends the JUNKs at the end?!

So, why shouldn't it work with bsplayer too?

I muxed the video and two audio streams with NandubBS and gave them the right name (english and german in my case), opended it with bsplayer and it worked.

Now it's getting wierd:
When I tried to find the JUNKs neither GSpot nor mmaviinf shows any entry with my stream names.
How does the audio stream name recognition in bsplayer work?
