the system ''stops''

when i try to load a movie and play it with bs player
the program and my system stops
then i have to close it with alt+ctrl+del
is there anything wrong with the player or with the codec (i use divx)

by the way i d like to know which is considered to be the best codec for bsplayer
is it divx or else?
