No Video

Just downloaded version 1.0 into Win XP and there is no video playback. When I go to the video options they are grayed out. When I try to load a vido file I get an error that it doesn't know what the file is. Any ideas or does BS Player not work with XP?

You probably don't have the proper codecs installed for the video-files you try to play.
Please check using GSpot or AviCodec (Second item of Help to Help hereunder).
With respect to codecs: please don't be tempted to load as many as possible. See e.g. these posts and this post.
