direct draw error message
 

cant create direct draw surface this message pops up every time i try to open a movie.please help.

Can you tell us something about your video card, your operating system and DirectX version. And what codec packyou have installed ?

i have a nvidia gforce4 mx440 se graphics card. running winme with the k-lite codec pack installed

Assuming that you also obtainbed BSPlayer from this pack, you're using BSplayer's version 0.86.501 now. (Look if the "about" information indeed mentioned build 501).
Right-click on BSPlayer and select "Options"/"Preferences" and then "Video"-tab.
Check (select) "Use DivX 4 decoder fgor MP43, DIV3, DIV4"
Now try (e.g.) "Use overlay" Mode 1.
If it doesn't work try different overlay settings (incl. "Use VMR-9)"

General advice and warning re the use of codec packs:
In most situations, you do not need to install codec/filter packs and certainly not every codec/filter that comes with these packs. In fact, you may run into problems if you install too many codec/filters on your computer. It is highly recommended that you only install the codec/filters that you absolutely need.
