About BSI...

Just a little question...
when does the bsi file format be supported in version 1.00 ? I find it very usefull, but it doesn't work with the new versions :(

is there anyimprovement planned ?

Hello.
I have a question about .bsi files.
I want to use Bsplayer and .bsi files with an autorun cd/dvd, with more avis. I make .bsi for all avis, but i want to use the function "Show main window on mouse move".
Is there a command for it, as the Panscan, Fullscreen and others under the 'options' in the .bsi files?
Thanks for the answer.

yogibear 31st January 2004 04:34 PM

I have some more questions.
I hope, somebody knows the answer.
I want to use on my autorun cd/dvd the AC3 filter (http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/) and the Ffdshow filter (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow).
I copy the filters' files to the "filters" folder and the root of the cd/dvd, the Bsplayer uses them to play the avis, but i cannot configure/modify the filters, because don't appear the filters' conf. panels.
Is there some way to use them from cd/dvd?

Matimott 2nd February 2004 09:23 AM

There's no command in the bsi file to "Show main window on mouse move".

For you other problem, i think you can solve it by registering your filter first ... with the command line :

regsvr32 youfilter.ax

I believe yogibear wanted his cds to work automatically without any installations on any pc.

Matimott 7th February 2004 03:30 PM

Yes, i understand, but i think that it's a little bug from bsplayer... or it doesn't handle this for the moment... i'm not sure but i think...

simply testing this allow him to know if it's the cause of his trouble.

Exactly. :)

I have some tv-series(in divx avi), and i want to write them to dvd (10-12 parts to 1 dvd). I can make a little autorun menu with Cdmenupro, and it works fine.
But some parts of series louder or darker as the others, and without the settings panel, i can't set the properties of audio or video.

yogibear 14th February 2004 12:25 PM

I have not enough time now, to study some idea, but i find something:

For instance, the Ac3 filter (http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/) has only one file, the ac3filter.ax, but it copies itself to the system32 folder, under the name ac3filter.cpl.

For normal filter operation all accompaniment files are not required and shipped only for serviceability. The only required module is ac3filter.ax. This module is also Control Panel configuration module for itself. For W2K+ it can be registred in registry key [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Con trol Panel\Cpls]. But for W98 compatibility at installation it is copied to windows system folder with .cpl extension.

Now i think, that if Bsplayer calls the setup panel of the Ac3 filter, it happens via rundll32. I think it good, or not?

The second is, that Bsplayer stores many configuration in the registry, not in an .ini file.

(I beg a pardon, if i make a mistake in english)

xlv600 17th February 2004 08:48 PM

With V1.00 BSplayer configuration is not stored in registry any more but in the BSPlayer.xml file. So that if you want to run from CD you should not modify the registry, and if BSPlayer is already installed on your HDisk, the configuration won't be changed.

@Matimott:
Maybe everything is not corrected in v1.0.805 concernig BSI files but I found that several things have been corrected.

- BSI files can now be ran thru the LAN, and it's very interesting for me. I explained here the issue.

- DefaultSub=0 now act as it should, that is subtitles are loaded but not displayed (tested with vobsubs and srt).

- It was a bit tricky but I was able to chain 4 movies on HDisk thru 4 BSI, and navigate seemless thru chapters selection. I only had to put all chapters in every BSI file (QuietSeb's method) and BSI files didn't need to be in the same directory than the movie.
Vobsubs are perfectly sync, the audio channel selection remains but not the vobsub language selection because it is reset on each BSI loading. In that particular case, 2 behaviour are weired:
=> The option FullScreen=1 works as a toggle, I had to remove it. :shock: If the movie was FS, it goes windowed when another part is loaded.
=> When a chapter is selected out of the current part, the action has to be done twice. The first one get the good file but the chapter position is not changed (even is the "Remember last movie position" is not checked in BSPlayer settings), the second action jumps at the correct chapter position.
Here is a sample:
Code:

[MAIN]
Version=1.00
NumberCDs=4
CD=2

But with BSI files I found those feature not working:
- Chapters embedded in an OGM file loaded thru a BSI file (the feature works without BSI).
- Title option seems not to work.

Hello.
I have another problem.

I want to make an icon, to autorun Bsplayer with .avi from cd, because i have an antitalent friend :).
I mean, that if he put a cd, with an avi on it, to the drive, and clicks to the icon on the desktop, the Bsplayer plays the avi.
But the problem is that the Bsplayer requires the name of the avi in the command line.
For example:

"C:\Program Files\Bsplay.exe" "K:\video.avi" -fs

It works, if i know the filename, but if i do't know...
Is there any way, to make it?

Many thanks.

If I understood well, you want to launch a movie which is located in a cd but you don't know its filename.
Well, there is a solution. Use the program Smartplay. It will do the job for you. :D

Unfortunatelly, HW BSplayer Autorun doesn't have such feature...

You need to define the filters in bspfilters.dat and of course have them in the Filters folder.
The content of bspfilters.dat in your case should look like this:
Code:

[BSPlayer filter def file]
AddFilter ffdshow.ax,{04FE9017-F873-410E-871E-AB91661A4EF7},ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder
AddFilter ac3filter.ax,{A753A1EC-973E-4718-AF8E-A3F554D45C44},AC3Filter
[Video]
[Audio]
2000=DOLBY_AC3
2000={A753A1EC-973E-4718-AF8E-A3F554D45C44},AC3Filter

And I suggest you download the latest ffdshow from here
A great all-inclusive utility I use for creating my standalone CDs is BSI Load Maker
The best out there!

about ffdshow

Does ffdshow have homepage? How come I am not able to access ffdshow in bsplayer preferences. It's greyed out. I have installed ffdshow. Are there extra steps I need to do to make it appear?

Quietseb 20th March 2004 08:34 PM

ffdshow homepage has not been updated in 1.5 years;
ffdshow sourceforge's project is 1 year old as well

I guess the place where you'll find most infos regarding ffdshow is on doom9's forum (not really a help thread but you can see there's some work going on).

as for ffdshow's properties being greyed out in preferences... you must be playing a file for them to be available ;)

(btw, we're drifting off topic, aren't we ;) )

Nevertheless development is there. The link I gave earlier is for build 12/03/2004.

[though I have been wondering for some time (before I found this thread) where the new builds came from ;)]

I use Ffdshow filter for years ago. :)
As a matter of course i define the filters in bspfilters.dat, as you wrote too, but the filtzers' configuration-panel don't loaded, if i want to use it from Bsplayer.

For the configuration panel to be accessible, the filters need to be registered with regsvr32.exe
