BSCDmaker - autorun movie-cds fast and easily:

Hi,

I made a application for myself to make autorun movie-cds more easily, but since the project got larger and larger I thought it would be good make it public too. So here it is: BSCDmaker.

You can use this app to create movie-cds (BSCDs), which start automatically when you insert the disc to your cd-drive. All things needed are on the cd, so there is no need to install anything (but possible codecs) to the system you want to watch the movie. Player on cd is naturally BSPlayer.

You may download BSCDmaker 1.0.1 from:
http://www.geocities.com/bscdautoplay

I don't have time right now to build website with proper description and stuff, but there is everything said in program manual.

Version 1.0.1 is not fully tested by me but technically it's supposed work.
If there is any problems, please inform me immediately.
The program is open source and I'll release the sources too after it's been proven to work without errors.

Thanks!

comments anyone?

DragonFighter 16th May 2004 12:31 PM

There is already an application exactly like yours..
... but far more complete! :P
Also, it has been built 5 months ago.. :P :P

I know there are few other programs like this, and I've tried couple of them too -including yours. Your system has potential, but it's still a hell of a mess and does not look good either. Simplicity is also something you should bear in mind...

I have no intension to develop my app much further than this. It's fully working, complete and open source, so that anybody can continue my work if they like. And I have no need to boast with this like someone else does...

BTW: BSCDmaker was made during last november, but as I said, it was made only for myself. I tought to release it now since there isn't any program as good and easy as this.

Thanks. :D

A hell of a mess?
Do you say that phrase every time you see a prog with more features than yours? :P

Simplicity heh? Let the users decide which program is more easy to use and looks nicer.. :P

What? Do you speak abou boasting? YOU?
Check these links in case you forgot them(!!) :
A release of a previous version of my prog!
Permantly adding subtitle into a video file!! :P
Creating a dvd menu!

On the other hand, I make announcements only when users ask about autorun/launchers and when new versions are out! :x

You little rascal, you saw that HWmaker was out last december..

As a conclusion, I must tell you that I didn't have any purpose to attack to you for doing this proggy. :P You forced me!

I just wanted to say that I was disturbed by seeing another program in the same "philosophy" like mine and nothing more.

bscd 22nd May 2004 11:59 AM

WHAT EVER DUDE! ...didn't mean to attack you neither.

The comments I threw were my own, I don't know what other people think about your program. In my opinion it's good, but there are many things that don't belong into my ideology of an program like this.

I know as a developer it's hard to judge your own program...logicalness, how easy it is to use and so on. I mean, you know your own program better than anyone, all the tips and tricks, but for a first-time-user it's perhaps not this way. Perhaps some people think my program is unlogical (=hell of a mess) or hard to use...or too simple as you say.

Basically I don't even support launcers anymore. F.ex how do you think BSCD or HWlauncer systems will work, say, 10 years from now on?
I just had to finish this BSCD project, since a program like BSCDmaker was my intention when I released the first (manual) BSCD package...I just did not have skills to do it back then.

..And the initial version of BSCDmaker WAS made during last november. I studied Delphi7 whole autumn to make it.
...I'll see if I can find you some 0.98 binaries if you don't believe me.

Nice speach man!
I'm sorry if I've been rude..

As a matter of fact, I created the whole project (launcher & maker) in order to learn Delphi like you did! :D
I know that my prog or yours will do only for trash in two years (not 10! :P ).
I really keep developing it cause I like to.

Have a nice day

bscd, your program don't want download.

P.S. Is there multilingual support?

bscd 23rd May 2004 01:25 PM

DragonFighter: ...no heart feelings :D

vitalis: I adjusted my server few minutes ago so downloads were off some time, if that's what you mean? ...now they should work just fine.

The program is only english at the moment, but it's open source so translation is possible. (in fact I tried to make the app compatible with language dlls, but did not manage to...damn Delphi )

bscd 4th June 2004 05:24 PM

1.0.3 (beta) is out!

NEW:
Usage of BSPlayer.xml -settings file (all BSPlayer settings available)
Complete save/load system
Some minor fixes

You may use the update function of the program to get the new version.

I'm working on with the next version, which is able to do totally standalone CDs...

Can you make support for text *.lng files like in BSPlayer?

bscd 5th June 2004 06:36 PM

I've been thinking about lng-files too, but i don't know...it would take so much time to edit the whole source.
But perhaps version 1.5 will bring this function too...
