bsplayer & ffdshow

Having trouble viewing movie. I'm using bs player, the latest version
I think. G-spot shows Codec misconfigured: ffdshow MPEG-4 video
misconfigured. Where do I go to get just the codecs I need? I can get
the audio but I get a green box with black lines running through it.
Sorry if I didn't post this in the right place. Please help Granni just wants
to watch a movie!
