Movie don't start

My latest 5 movies won't start with BSplayer. With my older ones no problem.
For 2 of the 5 movies I got an error message:

BSplayer v1.02.812, Unhandled exception at EIP: 1C402477
If you click 'Close' application will be terminated.
Please report this info to the author with description what were you doing.
Floating point division by zero

To test, I dowloaded videolan and with this player no problems, except for the subtitles. [I prefer Bsplayer]
I uninstalled my codes and I did install the latest Kza codec pack. Still the same problem.
I wile ago I have been cleaning up my disk, and I think this caused this problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try uninstalling all you codecs, then install the following:

FFDShow
X-Vid
AC3Filter
Matroska

If the movies doesn't work after that, I would suggest a format.

LSDSkunk,
Re-intalling those codecs did not work. thanks anyhow

That's not a good test, video lan use it's own codecs AFAIK.
Try windows media player, or better:
http://www.radwan.pl/vplayer/ftp/vplayer_06e.zip
(Polish player, that, for sure, uses only default direct show filters. Menus are in english)

note: VPlayer of course can't even compare to BSPlayer :)

Garet_Jax, thanks

This mediaplayer gives me 'A floating point by zero' error. So the problem is not solved.

All my older (more than an month) movies don't have a problem at all. So I suspect the movies itself, but they work with videolan. So what could be wrong?

It's working again !!

1/ But I don't know exactly why.
Actually I have the following codecs installed:
Ffdshow / codec pack 6019 all-in1 / Matroska pack / Koepie XVid/
I first did what LSDSKunk adviced me: no result. Then I uninstalled all my codecs again and installed 'the codec pack 6019 all-in-1'. No result.
Then I added ffdshow, matroska and koepie and I did run the program 'Vidc' kleaner' from the Koepie shortcut. And the problem was solved !!!!
I think this last action [Vidc cleaner'] solved the problem, but I am not sure.
- Anyone would like to comment ?

2/ At this moment I don't want to touch/purge my codecs [For instance: I have koepi installed as a part of codec pack 6019 and seperately].
But what is the best strategy related to codecs? I want to keep it simple and comprehensive.
- Anyone would like to comment ?

Thanks in advance

If it works then there is no reason to change anything.
Lots of peoples have different codecs strategies, but most of them (us) agree that codec packs, or any unnecessary codecs are usually not good. But, as I said, if you have codecs pack installed, and videos play fine, then just don't touch anything, maybe you will not get any errors for few days

I use:
latest DivX Pro (if you don't encode with it normal DivX is enough) - http://www.divx.com/divx/download/ or http://suprnova.org/
latest Koepi's XviD - http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml
3ivx (errr... I watched videos encoded with that about 2 times :P) - http://www.3ivx.com/download/index.html
AC3 DS filter - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/vi.../ac3filter.cfm
coreAAC - http://pessoal.onda.com.br/rjamorim/COREaacDS.zip
ffdshow (only installed, not using for anything) - http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=59355
Matroska Splitter - http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=84361
OGG DS filter - http://tobias.everwicked.com/oggds.htm
VSFilter - http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=84359
Quicktime - http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ or http://suprnova.org/
Realplayer - http://www.real.com/ or http://suprnova.org/
and of course:
BSPlayer 8)

also I use two programs for getting movies infos and managing codecs:
GSpot (beta version) - http://www.headbands.com/gspot/gspot252dl.html
Codec Sniper - http://www.utilidades-utiles.com/Dow...ec-Sniper.html

If you don't watch movies that use 3ivx, no need to install it.

I don't use ffdshow, because in past it caused me some problems with playback. I keep it installed because, if something goes wrong, I can always try to temporarly switch to it.

I tried QT and Real alternatives, but they just suck (quality and abilities to play video over Internet were not satisfactory). And if you properly configure original programs, then it shouldn't cause troubles.

Codec Sniper just can kill any of your codecs installed. GSpot states that can do the same, but I haven't tested it yet.

GSpot (beta, not the old one!) is the greatest tool to analyze problems with movies and show movies infos. Unfortunatelly it don't yet work for ogms and mkvs.

Garet_Jax, thanks for the explanation.
