Default frame by frame seeking while paused

uhm how do I use seek while it is paused, so I can play around with the movie.

I did it on accident one time, where i just clicked paused, then i moved the scrollwheel then it moved forward frame by frame, and it looked neat, and now i can't do it anymore. anybody know how?

Pause the movie using space bar and scroll using left/right arrow

Using left/right arrows skips one second, not one frame... I'd like to know how to skip single frames as well...

Open Options-->Preferences-->Key Definitions & WinLIRC

Find there a definition called "Switch time / frames"

Define some key for that action. (For example F1)

Now, when you pause the movie, you can switch between time and frames by pressing that key you defined and the left/right arrows skip one second OR one frame.

This is one way to achieve it.

that changes only the displaying of the current time for me... current frame, current time, current time / total time, remaining time... but not the arrows' behavior

Hmm, that's peculiar... for me it's working just fine and I'm currently working with one video and using that action. It works in windowed mode as well it works in full screen mode.

Are you using version 1.10?

When it is displaying frames, there is one pretty important thing to notice; When you pause the movie, you cannot go backwards frame by frame from that position. You can go forwards and then come back frame by frame.

I don't know why...

Well, I don't know anymore what could possibly be wrong.

If you play a video, pause it, switch to frame display and press right arrow-key. The video should go one frame forward.

I guess, but it doesn't... *shrugs* I don't know what's wrong either.

I'll probably just ignore it until someone has a striking new idea or until I reinstall my whole system, then I'll check again.

Anyway, thanks for your suggestions. At least now I know how it should work. :)

AFAIK frame by frame forward depend on the codec used to decode. So, first be sure you have the right codec. DivX movies are played using DivX codec and XviD codec is used for XviD movies. So you will be sure that there is no messup. If in filter dialog you have FFDshow, uninstall it and install latest builds of above mentioned codecs.

It works with ffdshow if I'm using another player, e.g. MPlayer Classic. So that can't really be the reason either...

I have the exact same problem, I really don't know why steeping forward frame is such a big deal for BSplayer. The problem started for me on Version 8.01 and I just installed 8.2 build 815 and it's the same thing.

Even before when it was working, it was acting very strangely. I had to step 1 frame forward and then step 1 frame backward. If I didn't do this after each pause, the step operation stopped functioning.

A part from this, I thing it's a very good player !
