nobody knows wtf? :\

Tizio 27th January 2006 12:17 AM

Does the error/crash happens with every video file? Try with different one.
Try to uninstall -> reinstall BSplayer.
Operating System?

larne 28th January 2006 02:54 PM

I get the exact same error as diopside with same bsplayer build. SAme unhandled exception and callstack. My specs are:
p4, 2.4ghz
i865pe chipset on p4p800 dlx
1024 mb ram
win xp, sp1 + all available updates except sp2.

I notice in task manager after program crash bsplayer is left as a process.
I did try uninstall / reinstall, but problem persists.

adicoto 28th January 2006 03:27 PM

I am sure it's no HW problem (by the way I have an P4@2,4 on an I865 PE-gigabyte not asus, 1GB RAM, XP, but SP2). By any chance, do you have Haali media splitter installed ?

larne 28th January 2006 04:01 PM

I tried another build and got the same crash, so maybe it's an OS error. Recently reinstalled win xp, perhaps something went wrong or some driver is bad... No Haali media splitter installed (as far as I know), just the latest ffdshow-051221. No other codecs.

I am pretty sure it's about codecs or splitters, but don't know exactly what or wich. Does this happen with all files (DivX, XviD, MPEG1, MPEG2) or just with one (type) of them ?

diopside 1st February 2006 05:37 PM

yes, i tried to reinstall it and i think it crashes with different types of files
i use klite codec pack but then i uninstaled it bs player still chrashed

adicoto 1st February 2006 07:48 PM

Does re-registering of quartz.dll solve the problem ? Generally, when a codec pack messed up the system this can put back some order.

larne 10th February 2006 06:59 PM

hello again.
I have not managed to fix my problem with bsplayer. But it does only happen with bsplayer. Never with VLC, WMP or quicktime... However bsplayer can be pretty addictive and I would like to make it work again, but I can only spend so many hours solving it. Any other suggestions?

Tizio 10th February 2006 07:07 PM

Try to uninstall your ffdshow decoder, your PC specs are high enough to fully support DivX and XviD and also haali decoders..
Please try to install them and see if the error persist

larne 10th February 2006 07:21 PM

thx for the reply.
unfortunately it didnt help. unistalled ffdshow and bsplayer. no other codecs installed. reinstalled bsplayer but problem persists.

diopside 10th February 2006 07:25 PM

Tried also with BSplayer v0.86? You can find links to older versions in BSPeter's post "READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING" (aka Help2Help) :?

Also tried the option "Close file when finished" in General Preferences?

Other suggestion is not so confortable.. format could be one.. Unfortunally I can't reproduce this bug since I never had similar problems on different machines :?

diopside 17th February 2006 06:39 PM

You don't have to 'uninstall' and 'reinstall' BSPlayer in order to test whether it has been misconfigured. Just temporarily rename BSplayer.*.xml (where the asterisk is your computer login). The configuration will reset to default. If the problem is not caused by bad config you can always revert to the former setup.

If not the WhenU, BSPlayer could have been distributed without any installer at all. Installer is not important.
