question about tv-out

when i connect my tv to the tv out, i can't see any movies with my bsplayer. I see only black screen in the bspalyer window on the tv.
What can i do?

Perhaps first try a different video-mode (overlay).
(rightclick >) Options > Preferences > Video > Video rendering > [Rendering mode]
