Since I installed ffdshow, it appears to be using this

adicoto 8th May 2007 08:03 PM

If it doesn't help you can uninstall it and let XviD take the decoding. Last chance.

sgc 8th May 2007 08:13 PM

Uninstalled ffdshow, now back on xvid, no change, it looks as if this this one needs the developers to take a look at, so hopefully they will take an interest in this thread.

I appreciate all the advice that has been given. if nothing else I certainly have learned a lot more about some of the features of BS Player.

One last try. Which audio decoder it's used ? Is it MPEG layer 3 decoder to all files ?

But I've noticed your version is a "PRO"-version, so - assuming it is a "legal" version - you are entitled to direct support by BS.Player-team.

Another idea is that it may have something to do with file-associations (Options > Preferences > General > File types).
However, I trust that you will be contacted by a BS.Player-team member and that a solution is found eventually. Please let us know.

My suggestion:

FORMAT C:

P.S.
DirectX version/date, probably 9.0c, but which month? Try to update to latest one

BSPeter 9th May 2007 06:35 PM

My suggestion: wait for the reaction of BSPlayer-team. (I know Ico-man has meanwhile read this thread.)

sgc 9th May 2007 07:08 PM

I Think I will wait and see if the developers get back to me, but thanks for the input

If there is a developer looking at these forums (still waiting for someone to contact despite the email!) I retrieved the following from the Windows event viewer which may be of some use to them:

Still no response from any developer, does anyone know any email address where I can contact them directly. Needless to say I am getting more than slightly annoyed with this product and the lack of obvious support with the notable exception of all of those on this forum who have tried their best to help

Tizio 18th May 2007 05:28 PM

Unfortunally direct support from devs is part of the PRO version bundle..
Anyway I (as, I think, BSPeter already did) contacted Ico, and probably he'll reply either here or via PM to me..

But I doubt it's a BSplayer (directly) related bug, probably some dll (codec?splitter?) don't interact well with it and make it crash..
I'm sure that FORMAT C: will solve your problem (since many of us haven't got problems with BSP), but it's not a good solution, I know

BSPeter 18th May 2007 05:44 PM

Indeed, when I saw sgc's message earlier to-day, that sofar he has had no response from any BS.Player-team member, I also (again) sent a message to Ico-man (but I didn't mention that in the forum).
Last time I did receive a response from him reading "Thank you for letting us know" and later I saw him present at that forum, so that's why I know for sure that he has seen this thread.
Have no idea why sgc has not received any reaction so far, unless his e-mail address as registered at the forum is incorrect, or sgc simply doesn't check his pm (maybe he has notifications switched off in his profile).
[@sgc: maybe click on the "You have x new message(s)-link" at the top of the page]

Do you use any S-ATA drives ? Do you have "network buffer" enabled ?

Tizio 18th May 2007 06:28 PM

I have SATA drive and Network buffer enabled on my new machine, but I haven't got such an error, can I ask you why are you asking this to sgc (so I can avoid future problems :P )

adicoto 18th May 2007 06:41 PM

Doing some googleing and the related results were about creating stacks at adress 00000034 (common among other applications) and double buffering at 86397. Just testing the ocean temperature with the finger.

sgc 18th May 2007 07:08 PM

No PM messages received to date and it is the Pro Version not the lite/free version

sgc 18th May 2007 07:11 PM

Also Format "C" is a bit extreme particularly in view of the fact that everything else on the Machine is working fine. Just have to keep using VLC media player instead of BSplayer
