Pan-scan's strange relationship? Hi, I have a 704x576 video and when i run it in "full screen" mode, it's displayed as a frame but there are black-backgrounded edges on left/right and top and my desktop resolution is 1024x768. So, i was always doing "pan-in" to fit the screen but although "remember pan-scan settings" is selected, when i re-open the video, everytime i have to do re-"pan-in" to fit. Yesterday, i found out a checkbok named "cut top and bottom of video in full screen mode" and i thicked it. After that the video is ran with strected and fit on the screen as i wanted. So i do not need to do pan-in anymore. So, what is the relationship of pan-in, "remember pan scan settings" and "cut top and bottom of video in full screen mode" ? Thanks.... |
Wrong, the image didn't stretched as you want. Just that what's on top and bottom it's no onger there, it's "displayed outside the screen". This option is somehow similar to a zoom, that stick the left and right edges to the screen and fit the image on top and bottom by not displaying what's more then the screen edge. Similar to 16:9 TV "zoom" function, used to avoid putting black bars on left and right when you are waching a 4:3 image. |
Hi adicoto, However, i was having to do pan-in to fit the whole screen. But after selected that tickbox, problem has gone away automatically. But the thing i did not understand is: Although "remember pan-scan settings" were selected, why had i have to do pan-in "everytime" i run the video which is smaller than screen resolution as well? |
Seems like your Pan-Scan don't get remembered because "cut top and bottom" has nothing to do with Pan-Scan. If you get black bars on both left/right and top/bottom you might have "don't resize video in full screen" checked. I would uninstall delete all settings and reinstall the latest BSPlayer and see if it goes away if you have this problem for all the videos you play. |

Anyhow, if you had "Remember Pan-Scan settings" selected, your custom pan-scan should indeed have been remembered. That being said however, it may also depend on your settings under playlist's preferences: (rightclick >) Options > Preferences > Playlist > "Pan-scan". P.S.: What version of BS.Player are you using at present? |
I think that Pan-Scan settings are remembered only if in Playlist options you set Pan-Scan to "As previous" (absolutely NOT "Default") |
