Can't create direct draw surface That's the message I get, every time, no matter what video format. Windows media player runs them fine, Nero plays them fine. I've been adjusting the render settings in the preferences/video tabs, and nothing seems to help. Sometimes it will play a black screen, and sometimes it will say Windows can't find the files, when they aren't missing. I'm using BS Player Pro, 2.14. Please help! |
What graphics card do you use (and what is on-card memory)? What DirectX version is installed? |
And which filters are involved in decoding process? (with a movie playing right-click on BSplayer window -> Options -> Filters -> Advanced) |

Taken from the filters window as BS Player played a small, silent, black screen: DivX Decoder Filter Location: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ divxdec.ax, Size: 692224 bytes, Version 6.0.0.1571 CompanyName: DivXNetworks, Inc. You could try using BSPlayer 1.37 with FFDShow. (Please read this post when going back from v2.x to v1.x player.) [If 1.37 version is no solution then I'm sure that version 0.86 is) |
As I wrote in the other post, I used a GeForce2 card with BSplayer in the past, I don't know if I tried v2, but I'm sure v1.37 worked fine (unfortunally I gave my old GraphicCard to a friend of mine, so I can't test it with v2 now..) Maybe an error introduced by latast DirectX? (I installed November release) |
