[SOLVED] Slow first load of bsplayer + avg8

Hi,

I noticed a very strange behavior:
I installed AVG Free 8, now the first time I run Bsplayer it takes 20 sec for it to load.
After that, when I close and reopen Bsplayer it only takes 2 sec to load.

Did some research and found that there is something with the visual c++ 2005 redistributable that AVG installs:

I did a new installation of XP (pro N version 2002, sp2).
Installed Bsplayer (BS.Player.Pro.v2.28.964.exe).
Installed C++ (http://download.chip.eu/en/Microsoft...2_1295945.html)
BSplayer loads in 2 sec.

Installed AVG8 (avg_free_stf_all_8_100a1323.exe)
Now Bsplayer has thet 20 sec problem.
Uninstalled the C++. No problem in Bsplayer, AVG will not run.
Reinstalled that C++, AVG can run, Bsplayer has the 20 sec problem.

a) Does any one else has this slow first load of Bsplayer?
b) Is there any solution to this problem?

Thanks,
Bob

It's because BSplayer.exe is packed with an exe packer (an application such as WinZIP, but for executables) plus an exe encryptior, thus your antivirus has to "unzip" it and run it in a virtual environment to ensure you to not run an infected exe, and since unzipping and decrypting are operations that require time, it will take more time to start it the first time.

The second time it only takes a couple of seconds because (probably) your antivirus adds BSplayer.exe to an "already-checked-list", here you have to no-need to unzip it again ;)

If you search the forum you'll probably find a way to unzip it in definitely (I suggested some steps) but I doubt BSplayer Authors would be happy to publicize it so much since it's written in the EULA that you agree to not modify in any way the application executables etc. (but in my opinion if your purpose is only to make the startup time faster...you can do it)
