problem with having subs
 

Maybe I am just not seeing it, but for some reason I can't get the subs to go away. I keep clicking the show subtitles button and checking and unchecking but the subs are still there. What am I doing wrong

You probably are using ffdshow's vobsub(vsfilter) or haali's subtitle engine, not BSPlayer's. Search in systray and disable in the ones above the option for subtitles
