Default Display System Time

When I use BSplayer I'm sitting in the dark, so I can't read the time. It is possible to switch te full screen for a few secconds to see te system time. But, wouldn't it be nice to simply push a button and the time appears.

(using an ATI remote wonder from a big couch, and yes, when I watch a movie I'm lazy 8) )

It's not a stupid question : this is on my todo list for several months now.
(unfortunately it will probably remain there for quite some time as I don't have the time right now to work on it).

Still here's an idea :

You can write a plugin to display the system time on the OSD.
That isn't so hard. The only tricky part is to trap the keypress.

I intend to include system time in the next version of my LCD plugin.
(but for that you need ofcourse an LCD )

I haven't got an idea where to start. In my other PC I have an audigy platinum EX, with the very bad creative software there was a button on the remote to display the system time. But the software is so awfull i've removed from that PC aswell.

And because I can't see the case, an LCD with the time isn't usefull. And because I hate clocks that stare all the time I thougt that BSplayer would give me that possibility

Well it was just an idea.
What I meant was : I intend to include this in my LCD plugin once I find out how to capture keypresses or messages (yeah I know, I'm a lousy programmer).
Once I finished that I can make the feature you request in 5 minutes.

Maybe it's already in BSplayer, I don't know either. Every day I find out about new features just by reading this forum. But I guess by now someone would have mentioned it if it really was.

If you have a remote you might be able to cook something up with Girder
(but it doesn't support all receivers) and some OSD plugin.
Again just an idea.

With the ATI remote wonder I can program several buttons to do a keyboard command. Every key is possible and even several multiple key-commands. So that can't be the problem. The question is if it's possible within BS or as an other OSD command. If you have ideas I'm willing to try them out.

Thanks for helping me out.

I'm not using girder, only the soft of the ATI remote wonder. And I can really advice everyone who uses BSplayer to get one. RF signals instead of IR is a dream come true

'Show movie time' function (I) will be improved in next build, so it will be possbile to choose what to display, system time, movie name, movi time, date etc.. instead of just movie time as it is now.

Also EV_KEY_PRESS event will be supported, so plugin would get all key events.

Thanks BST. The Keypress event will make my life a whole lot easier :D
so I'm looking forward to that.

@ Pleuris > I did a little test with Girder and the "Time To String" and "Simple OSD" plugin. It works only...the girder OSD is always behind the movie Maybe you can fix it (until the new build comes out) with one of the other OSD plugins.

Great 8) . Tomorrow I will try it with girder. But I'm looking forward to see it working with BS itself. If possible with an other button itself. So I (and everybody else) could look at the remaining time of the movie, and the system time.

Is it possible with the update to display the system time? (BSplayer version 1.02 )

Since everything is working OK I don't see a reason to install the new version. But if it's possible I would be very happy

Version 1.02 Build 812 was released 14th September 2004.
You may notice that that is also the date of bst's post above, so I'm afraid you will (at least) have to wait till the next release.
