crash after about 1h I have problem with bsplayer on windows 7 enterprise. Anything i watch (mkv, avi) after approximate 1 hour picture freeze sound keep going and i must open and end task bsplayer process. I tryed to update codecs with codecmanager and still same problem. Any advices? |
By any chance your computer sleep function it's activated ? |
Perhaps a wild idea: could this have anything to do with your system's settings for energy-management (or any other event scheduled to happen after one hour of apparent user's inactivity)? Edit BSPeter: adicoto just beat me  |

here is longer explanation of problem - i start movie and i watch it normaly. All codecs are updated and everything works fine. But after approximate 1 hour picture freeze but sound still work normaly (and i even waited few minutes sound work like movie continued) and i must start task manager to end task bsplayer as process. After restart i start movie i move to part where it stoped and i continue watch normaly. On other players it don't happend, i have fresh install of original windows 7 with all updates |
Something steal acces to the videocard. So, either a power management or a screen saver or some setup in video drivers. Do you use EVR as rendering engine ? Tested another rendering methode (such as internal renderer overlay) ? Which version of BSPlayer ? |

Latest build is 2.58.1055, so first update to this build. |
A new verison wont fix this problem, I'm struggling with this problem for half a year now! It takes about 30 minutes for problems to show up, if you pause and minimize bsplayer and try to use anything else, its very slow to respond, browser takes a minute to load up, mouse is laggy, its like everything wants to freeze, and if you got bored and close bsplayer everything turns back to normal! If you rewind and forward a lot (which I do) in a movie, you cant even complete a 53 minute series episode, because the video becomes laggy and it freezes up, but the sound keeps going on. Its so annoying, I dont know if it happens to all of the video formats, what I know is it happens in AVIs and MP4s (350Mb, 700Mb, 1400Mb, 2000Mb -doesnt matter) Windows 7 Enterprise, quad core, 4Gb ram, EVR rendering, no power saving, K-Lite codec pack (no bsplayer internal) |
The reason for which I asked to update it's that if this bug was fixed meanwhile (about 4-5 months), there is no reason to search deeper. On the other hand, I have on my computer the latest version, so any help I can give it's based on the behaviour of the latest build. On the other matter, I also use BSPlayer on a laptop with Win7, 2 GB RAM, Core2Duo@ 2 Ghz and I don't have such a behaviour, BSPlayer runs smooth with no problems files up to 1080p, no lagging, no browsing or multitasking problems, search or chapters in 8 GB MKV is no problem. Using internal renderer overlay. Search in keyframes disabled in genereal preferences. NO codecpack (as I allways advise) |
Actually latest build is 2.58.1056β of 12-Aug-2011. Latest non-beta version still is 2.57.1051 (Dec-2010) as used by Anarin. Perhaps just another wild idea: is the option "Automatically upload subtitles" selected? It's under (rightclick>)Options>Preferences>Subtitles>[Online subtitles]. (If you use online subs with this option selected, BS.Player will start upload when about 80% of the movie is played.) |
Strange, I have 1055 from 12.08.2011 Downloaded 1056 |

p.s. i tryed to turn of automatic upload of subtitles to see will that help |
1. Have you set BSplayer to internal renderer ? Because by default, it installs in EVR mode under Win7. 2. If you switched to another rendering option, is there any difference ? 3. Your videocard drivers are up to date ? |
Quote:
2. - i tryed to switch to EVR - still same (and couple of variants) 3. - latest video drivers 4. - uploading subtitles are switched off 5. - tryed with latest version from 12. august 6. - power settings are all on maximum Any other ideas? |
My last ideea. Make a screenshot of processes runing in task manager before starting the movie and after BSPlayer stops displaying video. Compare them and see if there is a new process runing at that moment. No other ideeas. |
Anarin do you have a Radeon video card? Because I think my problems started exactly when I switched to Radeon (HD6790) Although there is no gpu activity while playing avis, so its just another guess! |
That could be related to video drivers or another setting in videocard. |

p.s. i tryed to play movies with VLC and POTplayer and no problems there, everything freeze just with BSplayer (several other friends said same stuff happends to them so they stoped using bsplayer) |
Just a thougth. Do you both have Windows 7 64 bit version ? |

p.s. i tryed to download k-lite mega codec pack but still same |

Yes, I use Windows 7 64bit Enterprise! |

Just to add more info to this thread, this only happens when I use BS on Asus EEE. I host the files via wlan and when I play the same files on my desktop pc, they work perfect. When I play them on my cellphone, same. Desktop is tripple core amd, 4 gigs of ram, radeon 6850 hd graphics. This Asus EEE has integrated graphics I think, 1gig of ram and intel atom. Desk runs Windows 7 ultimate x64 Asus runs Windows 7 starter (I'm guessing x86) Both have drivers up to date, and codecs installed with bs player, and thats it no settings tweaking no nothing. This laptop windows install is fresh, it has about 3-4 programs on it so you can exclude an external application influence. Thanks |
Thank you for details. Maybe they will help finding a solution to this problem. |
We will check this issue. |
loldawg, i got same problem, and we have same video card, i think it's related to HD 6850, when i had other graphic card i didn't have any problems Also i tho it might be related to something in CCC settings for video i will try to disable few items and see to watch movie then i post back |
Thank you. Will be waiting for your details too. |
Ok, i wanted to make sure so i watched over two movies, i didn't disable anything in Catalyst Control Center, i tried once more with quartz.dll and i rebooted my pc and now movies play normal, don't know why first time when i did re-register quartz.dll didn't work, now it does i used this to re-register it %windir%\system32\regsvr32 %windir%\system32\quartz.dll I will try to see some more movies these days to check if everything is still fine |
disapointed :( I have got the same problem on my Toshiba Satellite A200, 2000 MHz - T2450 processor, 2 GB DDR2-677, Intel 945 Express Chipset Family graphics and using Windows 7 Ultimate, 32bit edition. Everything is updated, I use codecs only installed by BSplayer. My current BSplayer version is 2.58 build 1058, 08. 9. 2011. But I am struggling with this problem over a year with previous versions of BSplayer. It appears after watching approximately 40-70 minutes of video (any kind - avi, mkv, mpg; and any quality - 480p, 720p). When this problem happens I am hardly able to open my task manager, BSPlayer is using almost 100 % of it. Sometimes the icon on the taskbar is broken into two. When trying other players, everything went fine, but I like the BSplayer interface and features and I don´t want to use other players. Every time a new version is released I try it, but it is not fixed yet :( |

like temporarily shown during a BS.Player notification when (rightclick >) Options > Preferences > General [General settings] .... .... "[v] Enable taskbar status area notifications" is selected ?? and not caused by selection of .... .... "[v] Use separate taskbar button for main and video window (restart required)" ?? and/or .... "[v] Allow multiple instances" ?? |

Enable status area notifications is selected, but I don´t see the point, because it happens in time, when there should be no notifications (in the middle of the movie...); but I can try it... I don´t use separate taskbar button for main and video window. I didn´t allow multiple instances. I am sure that this is the same problem discussed in this topic. |
Thx! |
I´ve disabled .... "[v] Enable taskbar status area notifications" is selected ?? but it didin´t work :( |
I still believe the solution lies somwhere in window's settings (or PC's / laptops) as I don't have such a problem on my laptop nor on any of many PC's I have installed BSPlayer. Many of them runing Windows7 and all using internal renderer, old subtile renderer, enable Aero when closing BSPlayer, without ffdshow (codecs installed independently). |
Hi guys, just to get back to you after few days, my problem that was same as this guy's in post is solved now, i really don't know how, i did a windows reinstall in mean time and there is new drivers for HD Radeon 6850, i also re-registered quartz.dll and everything works smoothly, i have no problems at all now I have codecs installed only from BS Player when i installed player, nothing else |
We cannot reproduce this at all. Can you send us your settings file (bsplayer.xml)? |
Mine or...? |
Yes. :) |
