Default Burn movie with subs on CD

If I download a movie and subs seperately I can view them together on the BSPlayer. Can I burn them somehow on CD and watch it in MPEG in my DVD-player???

(By the way there are plenty stand-alone DVD-players capable of playing avi-movies with separate srt subs nowadays).

Nowadays, most of the DVD players support AVI MPEG4 playback with external subtitles.
