Can you tell us which type of codecs the files are encoded with?
(movie file extension, codec used to encode it, codec used by BSplayer to play it, etc.)

Tell us also the subtitles format you use (embedded or not, srt, txt, ssa, idx, sub)..

Maybe read also BSPeter's "READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING" post, items 3 and 4

erm, sorry if i post wrong.
i'm using the latest bsplayer as at today( 02 June 2006). I'm sorry too as i dont really know much of the codecs thingy. to put it the simple way, the animes which has dual audio doesnt show the subtitle anymore. Thats the main problem now. I manage to deal with the Japanese audio with.

But i can show you some of the files name though
Example : [a4e]Samurai_Deeper_Kyo_01[divx5.05]

I just want the subtitle back....

another thing is, the file come in 1 files only, which mean i dont have the subtitle files, its supposed to BE inside the anime file somewhere.

Are you sure it's available a subtitle file embedded in the movie file? Were you ale to watch also the subtitles with previous versions of BSplayer and now not, or you never tried those files with previous versions of BSplayer?

It seems that you have extensions hidden in Windows. To display also the file extensions:
1. Open Windows Explorer (the "My computer" one, not Internet explorer )
2. Click on the "Tools" menu item and select "Folder options..."
3. Go to the "Visualization" tab and uncheck the option "Hide extensions for the most common file types"
4. Press OK
Now you'll be able to see (and tell us) your movie files extensions.

If the subtitles are embedded in the movie file, probably you are using .OGM or .MKV files, so you have to use the right splitters to see subtitles.
Don't use Haali media splitter (or Matroska haali media splitter) since Haali splitters have problems with BSplayer (or BSplayer have problems with them :) )

Instead use Gabest for mkv files and OggDS for ogm files..

You can find the links to these codecs in BSPeter's link I provided you before. Search for adicoto's list of codecs

"VMR 7/9 (renderless)" & "Direct 7/9" settings : use texture surfaces and render video in 3D ***
DirectShow Audio : Default DirectSound Device (00800000)

Don't warry, we are here to help each other
But please, you must help me to help you :)

Have you done the "show extensions" procedure? If yes, which extensions have your movies?

If the extensions are .OGM you need this: http://www.vorbis.com/files/1.0/tobias/OggDS0995.exe
If the extensions are .MKV you need this: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ease_id=208995

In BSplayer you can leave the settings as default and everything should work fine (to be sure the settings are the default ones, delete the BSplayer.USER_NAME.xml file present in you USER PROILE FOLDER [usually "C:\Documents And Settings\USER_NAME\Application Data\BSplayer\"]) and then start BSplayer.

Try to do this, then tell me if it worked..

If you want to change your rendering settings (but first try to see if the subtitles are shown with default settings) you can go in BSplayer preferences window (CTRL+P -> Video -> Video rendering -> Rendering mode ...)

erm cool...ok.
i download the one for ogm extension.
yeah, i did the "show extionsion" things. and i also deleted the xml file from the bsplayer file in Document and Settings.
the problem now is, for some anime that have dual audio, i have to manually change it into Japanese language while others just switch to Japanese itself. for example, my Hellsing series play Japanese on itself while in Kyo Samurai Deeper, I have to manually change it. Any suggestion?

By the way, thanks for the help earlier! ^^ :D :D  8)

Remux into the Matroska container and choose a default audio track.

Or, since the files are in OGM containers, use: http://oggmux.sourceforge.net/

If you want to select default audio stream with BSplayer you can use the options provided by the Playlist right panel
Load the movie files into the playlist and then select the movies with default english audio tracks. Now in the right panel change the Audio stream from 1 to 2.. Now you can save the playlist in internal format and the options will be kept!
It should work.. I say should because with OGM containers sometimes BSplayer have problems when setting a default audio track different from "1"

Default Simialr Problem

I've been having a similar problem. I'm currently using build 941and using Gabest Matroska which I saw was recently suggested on this thread: http://bsplayer.com/forum/viewtopic....light=semi+ogm

I have no problem seeing the picture, but i can't get the embedded subtitles to work. I also happen to have a previous build of bs player (build 812) and have no problems veiwing the embedded subtitles in that version. In fact, just about every other program I have shows the subtitles. For some reason this build just doesnt want to work. Any suggestion as to what might be able to do to fix this problem would be appreciated. thanks

Have you changed Subtitles options in BSplayer settings window?
Maybe try to play with the settings..

One thing you can try is to select "Allow Intermediate Filters" option in Filters preferences window (CTRL+P -> Filter management -> General)

I have the same exact problem i.e. that subs in ogm files aren't displayed, but the solution above doesn't work for me and bsplayer has never worked well with ogm files in my experience.

I'm running bsplayer 2.1 at the moment and have the latest k-lite mega codec pack installed, this comes with the latest versions of DirectVobSub and Haali media splitter. i've tried fiddling with the options and now the directvobsub icon shows in the system tray, but when i select the english subs in either haali or directvobsub, bsplayer crashes out as soon as i press play (or crashes immediately if its already playing).
Any suggestions?
The files work fine in vlc and media player classic...

But have you tried to use OggDS splitter instead of Haali?
BSplayer have still some problems with Haali, it has been reported in the BUGS list and we only need to wait for future releases with full support for it.

Until it will be fixed, Don't use Haali with BSplayer
