Default Audio+subtitles problems

I am using BSplayer 2.27 latest build (958?). When I play music files everything works just fine, the sound is perfect. When I try to reproduce a DVD video burned with Nero7 I get no sound and no subtitles. The same DVD performs just great on my PC when I play it through PowerDVD7. Also, if I play the DVD on my Pioneer LX60D player it shows fine on my TV. I have Vista Ultimate on my PC. Can the experts explain to me what this is all about and how can I work around the problem?

When playing the DVD, wich filters are used by BSPlayer ? To see that, play the DVD, rightclick -> options -> filters. My guess is that you don't have a DTS filter (such as AC3Filter or DTSAC3filter). Also, by default, Vista tends to put up to work Msoft's MPEG2 decoders (nasty ones) instead of INtervideo's or Cyberlink's ones.

Just to be sure: you're using Pro version or ??

(PS: Most recent build is 959)

As you mentioned, only the default ones are available. What filters do I have to have installed and where can I get them from?
Thanks!

I installed ffdshow and AC3 filter and I have a good sound now.
However, I can't get any subtitles. During DVD playback, I open up the preferences and the "Show Subtitles S" option shows in grey. Bear in mind that the same DVD plays in the standalone Pioneer recorder with subtitles. What can I do for this problem?

Options->preferencies->subtitles, go to vobsub tab and enable it.

It was enabled. My problem was focused mainly on an avi file. I did find. though, that AFTER burning it on a dvd the subtitles will show during playback. What I was (probably) doing wrong, is that I was trying to play the file after converting it with convertxdvd3 and before burning it on a dvd.
Thanks a lot for the advise guys. BSplayer is a nice tool!

Glad that the problem was solved. I do sometimes use ConvertXtoDVD. Maybe I will check the problem and if I can reproduce that, maybe this thread's end will be a post in the long Bug Report section.
